About Meli
Meli Bee always adored stories and grew up to become a professional writer. By day she is known as Melissa Brett, Education Resource Developer, but her real identity is Meli, Maker of Many Colourful Things.
The many wonderfully unique qualities in young people inspired Meli to write children's books. While celebrating the unusual and quirky, she is also interested in the uplifting qualities that connect us all.
Meli's stories encourage children to honour their uniqueness and have the confidence to express it. Themes that shine through her writing include the power of hope, love and courage, and the joy of creative expression.
Also an amateur artist, Meli loves throwing brightly coloured paint onto canvases almost as much as she loves playing with words. Wearing unusual hats and footwear is another favourite pastime.
Meli lives in Australia on Darramuragal land with her partner and their cat Nishka, who adopted them a few years ago. For the record, as well as cats Meli loves dogs, frogs, insects and all other animals too.
